A comical scene unfolded at a café near a safari camp in Zambia when a massive elephant decided to take a break at the outdoor table.
The amusing incident was captured by Simone Ruf, who witnessed the event while working at Flatdogs Camp in the South Luangwa National Park.

The male elephant, weighing up to three tons, casually moved an umbrella before sitting on the café table. After a brief rest, the elephant swiftly exited, breaking one of the umbrella’s spokes.
“First, the elephant bull moved the umbrella around; then he decided to sit on the table. It looked like he wanted to use the table as a seat,” Ruf recounted. She described the scene as surprising and amusing, noting, “I think he was mostly just being naughty.”
The South Luangwa National Park, known locally as “the South Park,” is famous for its diverse wildlife. In addition to elephants, the park is home to large populations of Thornicroft’s giraffe and African buffalo.

Established as a game reserve in 1938, the park spans 9,050 square kilometers and is renowned for its walking safaris.
Despite the park’s protection from poaching, its elephant population has faced significant challenges.
The park remains one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations, attracting visitors from around the globe.
