When Beaker was first discovered by Perkins, he was cowering behind a garage, trying to remain hidden. However, as Perkins called out to him, Beaker’s tail started to wag with enthusiasm. He cautiously approached, seeking affection and clearly relieved to find someone there to help. Inspired by his excitable ‘meep’ sounds, reminiscent of a character from the Muppets, Perkins named him Beaker.
Initially anxious due to being abandoned and left chained, Beaker soon realized that Perkins was there to rescue him. His demeanor changed rapidly, turning into an energetic display of joy upon meeting his new friend. “Once freed from the garage, he immediately rolled over for belly rubs, showering everyone with playful affection,” Perkins shared.
Despite this joyous moment, Beaker had a chain stuck around his neck that needed urgent medical attention. Perkins quickly took him to the veterinarian where, due to a wait time for surgery, they spent over five hours bonding. “He eventually fell asleep with his head resting in my lap,” Perkins recounted, reflecting the newfound trust and companionship.
After everything he endured, all Beaker wanted was love and security, and his wish finally came true. He is now recovering from his surgery in a foster home where he’s blossoming into one of the happiest dogs around. Unbothered by past hardships, Beaker is focused on his present life, enjoying the company of new friends who care for him and ensure his wellbeing.
In his foster home, Beaker is learning what it means to be an indoor dog and experiencing the unconditional love that had been missing from his life. Perkins stated, “He’s adapting well and thriving in his new environment.”
Now, Beaker is on the lookout for a permanent home. Ideally, he would thrive in a place that includes another playful and energetic dog to be his lifelong companion. From the moment he met his rescuers, Beaker knew he was safe, and he eagerly awaits the forever family who will provide the loving home he deserves.
