A charming and heavily pregnant dog named Kerry was recently discovered seeking refuge under a parked car. Thankfully, she was gently coaxed out and brought to a shelter, where she soon welcomed five delightful puppies into the world.
This heartwarming tale caught the attention of Hearts & Bones Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs. They promptly extended their support to Kerry and her new family.
Upon their arrival at the Hearts & Bones shelter, Kerry and her pups settled in quickly. Grateful to have a safe haven, Kerry expressed her gratitude to everyone she met. Katherine Hieber from Hearts & Bones Rescue shared with The Dodo, “Kerry is incredibly resilient and seemed happy to have a safe place to care for her pups.”
Adjusting well to her surroundings, Kerry embraced the love and attention offered by the shelter staff. She trusted them completely with her puppies and even enjoyed the company of a human companion while nursing, often gently placing her paw in their hand for comfort.
Kerry’s affectionate nature was evident, as she filled the air with kisses and paw shakes. She was not overly protective and allowed the staff to handle her puppies regularly for weigh-ins, ensuring their health and growth.
Her devotion as a mother was unmistakable. Even when stepping outside for a break, she would quickly return to her puppies, not wanting to be parted for too long.
With the dedicated efforts of Hearts & Bones Rescue, Kerry and her puppies found a loving foster home in New York City. Here, the puppies can flourish in a secure and nurturing environment.
