An emotional scene unfolded in one of Russia’s freezing regions, moving many to tears. A mother dog, in a selfless act, embraced her puppies tightly, sacrificing herself to keep them warm against the biting cold.
Despite their hunger and the numbing chill, the seven pups clung to their mother’s side, unwilling to leave her lap.
Russia, known for its harsh winters, sees temperatures in the northern areas plunging to as low as -66 degrees Celsius.

Across the country, temperatures range from 0 to -40 degrees Celsius, creating a severe challenge for stray animals seeking shelter from the freezing conditions.
On December 20, a worker clearing snow discovered a heartbreaking sight. A group of puppies huddled together, trembling in the cold, nuzzled their noses against their now lifeless mother, who had succumbed to the harsh environment.
The worker quickly retrieved a cardboard box to secure the pups, but they scattered, with the youngest lingering next to its mother, still crying in fear.

This heart-wrenching scene deeply affected the worker, prompting him to alert a local rescue station for help. Unfortunately, as the team arrived, a sudden snowfall disrupted their efforts, forcing them to temporarily leave the mother dog’s body behind.
The determined puppies, however, returned to seek out their mother amid the snowfall.
Fortunately, the snowfall was not severe, and, after nearly two days of searching, the rescue team successfully gathered all the puppies.

They noticed the mother dog wore a red collar, implying she once had an owner. It remains unclear whether she was abandoned or lost. The dog’s death was attributed to malnutrition, exhaustion, and hypothermia.
Though rescuers arrived too late to save the mother, their efforts ensured the puppies reached safety at a nearby animal rescue center.

After several days of care, the puppies have recovered and are preparing to celebrate Christmas with the other animals at the center.
In the spirit of the holiday, the rescue staff has “dressed up” the puppies, capturing their journey from survival to a festive celebration.
