Blind Cat Clue and Kittens Find Refuge and Love in New Foster Home

Published on

A blind cat named Clue has found a safe haven for herself and her three kittens after spending her whole life outdoors in search of comfort and security.

Just recently, the Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR) in Corpus Christi, Texas, learned about a mother cat and her three kittens who were in dire need of temporary shelter.

Clue was discovered at the home of an elderly couple when their son, visiting routinely, saw that this stray cat’s eyes seemed pressed shut. He followed the amiable tabby to her nook and was astonished to find her nurturing three tiny kittens.

“The cat’s eyes appeared to be sealed shut due to bad infections,” explained Mary Huckabee, an Officer at CBCR, in her conversation with Love Meow.

Immediately upon finding a suitable foster home, the rescue welcomed the feline family with open arms.

Two of the kittens were in poor health, suffering from malnutrition and showing signs of an upper respiratory infection.

Meanwhile, Clue, the devoted mother, avidly devoured her food before settling into her warm new home with her kittens, affectionately named Candyland, Monopoly, and Chutes and Ladders, nestled closely beside her.

Once Clue received care, it became clear that her sight problem was more than just an infection.

“Our vet thinks she was born with a condition called congenital microphthalmia, where her eyes are either very small or missing entirely,” Mary informed Love Meow. Despite her blindness, Clue was an attentive and protective mother.

With their new environment’s comfort and care, the kittens began to thrive, gaining weight, and their eye infections cleared up after a week of tender loving care.

Clue was vigilant with her kittens, always attentive when they were taken out for weighing, eagerly wanting them back in her care.

At three weeks old, the kittens began exploring more, much to Mama Clue’s initial concern. “She would repeatedly carry them back to their safe spot before accepting they were ready to discover the world beyond her chosen boundary.”

Clue has embraced the affection from her foster family, signaling for head scratches or belly rubs, and enjoying the attention as soon as her foster family comes around.

“Though she spent all her life outdoors and blind, she quickly adapted to the litter box and is enjoying a life of luxury,” Mary shared with Love Meow.

Under foster care, Clue and her kittens are flourishing. The kittens, now four weeks old, are reaching new milestones and showing their unique personalities.

Candyland is adventurous and vocal, Monopoly enjoys relaxed belly rubs and is perfecting her pouncing, and Chutes and Ladders has warmed up to human attention now that eye treatments are behind her.

Clue is loving indoor life, showered with love and care, free from the worries of finding food or shelter, and will soon receive the needed medical procedures for her eyes. She is now living the life she always deserved.
