Dogs deeply bond with their owners, seeing them as their one and only true love. Unfortunately, many people sever this connection in heartbreaking ways, sometimes abandoning their pets without even considering surrendering them to a shelter.
A recent incident in Southern California highlighted this cruel reality when a 75-pound dog was thrown out of a car by its owner, left to fend for itself in the middle of bustling traffic. Confused and heartbroken, the dog began to run in circles, trying to make sense of the bewildering situation it found itself in while its owner drove away.

Thankfully, a local rescuer named Mary witnessed this distressing scene and straight away informed Suzette Hall, founder of the Californian rescue organization Logan’s Legacy. In a Facebook post, Hall recounted, “When he first got thrown out he was so confused, running around in circles in traffic.”
Mary attempted to approach the scared dog, but it shied away from her, possibly due to the shock and trauma. Despite his large size, the dog was too frightened to let anyone come close, lingering on the street where he’d been abandoned.
His ordeal only worsened when he tried to cross a busy road, dodging cars that only added to his fear. At one point, a hefty Jeep nearly ran him over, but fortunately, the vehicle was high enough off the ground to avoid harming him. Hall reflected, “He is literally 75 pounds and so big but so scared. A huge jeep with huge tires literally went over him. Thank God the jeep was so high off the ground.”

Suzette Hall quickly coordinated with other rescuers—Karla, Yamileth, and Nunez. By the end of the day, this compassionate team managed to coax the scared pup into a fenced yard using treats. Once inside, the dog, now named Benji, was finally safe.
Although still coping with trauma, Benji was soon headed toward a brighter future. Hall shared her relief and joy, stating, “They got him into a yard and shut the gate. My heart was so happy. The fear and terror he had been through was over. And this big hunk of pure love was finally safe.”

With the help of his rescuers, Benji will receive the care and affection that he so desperately needs. He is now in foster care, where he’ll meet new friends and other dogs, learning for the first time what it means to be truly loved.
As Benji adjusts to his new life, he will eventually be ready to find a permanent home—one filled with happiness and love, which he undoubtedly deserves.
