Moose, a resilient pit bull, had a tough beginning, living with a bullet in her lung and yearning for love. She faced the grim prospect of euthanasia simply because she had barked at another dog. Luckily, her story took a positive turn when Micky learned about her situation just in time.
When Micky read Moose’s tale, the dog was on the brink of being put down in Houston, Texas. Without hesitating, Micky applied to adopt Moose, and soon after, Moose traveled to Virginia to meet her new owner, offering her a fresh start.

“It’s really sad because she faced behavioral euthanasia and all she did was bark at another dog,” Micky explained to GeoBeats Animals. Moose had endured many hardships, including being shot, contracting heartworms, and undergoing an abortion. Despite these challenges, she remained affectionate and only needed a chance to show her true nature.
Micky found Moose to be surprisingly well-behaved, potty-trained, and eager to learn. It turned out that Moose had some training before and only needed a loving environment to flourish. Micky noted, “I’m shocked that this dog, after such a rough start, still wants to be everyone’s best friend.”

The connection between Moose and Micky inspired the idea of training her as a therapy dog, particularly because Micky faced mobility challenges herself. Moose’s innate empathy was evident as she would instinctively stay close on Micky’s difficult days, solidifying her potential for a therapeutic role.
Now aiming to earn her OFA certifications, Moose’s future as a therapy dog looks promising. Micky illustrated their bond, saying, “Usually, she sleeps by my legs, but when I’m not feeling well, she’ll sleep by my head.”

Having been together for nearly 18 months, Moose and Micky share a deep and unbreakable bond. Moose, once unwanted, has found a home filled with love and purpose. Together, they explore life’s adventures, cherishing every moment of their journey together.
