In an all-too-familiar scenario, a dog named Mina was left abandoned with her two puppies, struggling to survive on the streets. Fortunately, kind-hearted people noticed their plight and facilitated a rescue for the distressed family.
Mina, a Bully mix, once lived in a secure home but found herself deserted in a desolate area with just her two puppies, a crate, and a blanket to her name. She tried desperately to keep her remaining puppy warm against the harsh, cold cement.

Their story caught the attention of Jen and Roman McConn, the founders of Project Freedom Ride, based in Evans, Georgia, when they learned about Mina’s difficult situation via a Facebook post. Realizing the urgency, they sprang into action.
Upon reaching the location, the McConns discovered a dire scene. Mina was protecting her surviving puppy, later named Milo, while the other had sadly died nearby. Milo was fraught with health issues, suffering from mange and a serious worm infestation—both pups needed urgent care.

A veterinary check-up revealed some good news: neither Mina nor Milo had life-threatening conditions. Milo required treatment for mange and frequent baths, yet both were simply grateful to be safe and loved. “We are unbelievably lucky as neither have anything significant going on medically and both are happy as can be to be safe and loved,” Jen shared.
Mina and Milo were taken into a foster home by Heather, who was dedicated to ensuring they felt secure and cherished. Mina, gentle and nurturing, and Milo, full of playful confidence, adjusted well even with Heather’s two other dogs. With her care, they thrived in their new environment.

During the three months with their foster family, Mina and Milo underwent a remarkable transformation. Their friendly personalities shone as they learned new things, making them ideal pets. Mina, ever affectionate, loved to cuddle and soon became both house and crate-trained. Milo, with his refreshed fur coat and lively spirit, flourished in his caring surroundings.
At last, both dogs found their forever homes. Milo was adopted first by a loving family in the Midwest where he continued to thrive. Mina, after a slightly longer wait, also found a wonderful home where she could truly blossom.

Their journey from abandonment to happiness highlights both the resilience of animals and the compassion of those willing to help.
