When a tiny puppy named Abby was found abandoned in a box, her future seemed uncertain and grim. She was covered in blisters and visibly frightened, clearly in urgent need of help. However, what started as a troubling situation soon turned into a heartwarming journey that led Abby to a loving home and a charming smile that lights up the room.
Abby’s story began when she was left at a shelter in Houston, discovered inside a small box. One of her rescuers, Dina, recalled the first time she saw Abby to The Dodo, describing her as “a tiny, scared puppy who was shaking.”

Abby’s condition was dire due to blister-covered skin, indicating the need for immediate medical care. The shelter staff promptly treated her condition, offering temporary relief and glimpses of hope as Abby began wagging her tail. Recognizing Abby’s strong spirit and will to live happily, Dina volunteered to foster her, providing the love and attention essential for her recovery.
Despite the initial treatment, Abby’s condition wasn’t improving as hoped—the blisters remained painfully persistent. As her health issues continued to affect her mood, Dina knew additional steps were necessary. She returned with Abby to the Houston vet clinic, where further tests revealed a rare skin disease.

Though the diagnosis was challenging news, it marked a turning point for Abby. Armed with knowledge of the underlying issue, they could begin the right treatment, setting her on the path to better health and happiness.
Once Abby received adequate care, her transformation was extraordinary. Her health improved substantially, unveiling a playful side that had been hidden before. Dina happily shared, “She started coming out, playing with the other dogs, and sitting for treats.”

With her newfound energy, Abby enjoyed playing with new toys Dina bought her and loved their regular walks exploring the world around her. As Abby thrived in the simple joys of life as a playful dog, it became clear she was ready for a forever home.
Dina noted Abby’s distinctive look, saying, “Her scabs took her hair, leaving her head completely hairless. She kinda looks like a gremlin.” Adding to her charm, Abby’s underbite gave her a permanent, endearing smile.

Before long, a family found Abby and welcomed her into their home, offering the love and care she had long deserved. Despite little being known about her new family, one thing is certain: Abby is now surrounded by warmth and affection, living her best life as a happy, cherished member of their family.
