A stray dog named Kratos was found in a dire state, excessively thin and battling severe mange. His plight haunted Carson, a co-founder of Rescuers Without Borders (RWB), even though the challenges ahead seemed intimidating.
Kratos was among many dogs struggling to survive in a landfill, relying on scraps from the trash to find food. RWB, established in 2024, is committed to helping such vulnerable animals by providing food, medical care, and sometimes finding them new homes. However, their limited resources often make their mission a daunting one, as they cannot assist every dog in need.

At approximately eight years old, Kratos particularly caught Carson’s eye, especially with the harsh winter approaching. Local rescuer Gökçe Erdogan urged Carson to take action, fearing that Kratos would not survive the cold season on his own.
Feeling moved by his situation, Carson and her team quickly took action. They located Kratos, who was severely dehydrated and exhausted. Against all odds, Kratos showed incredible resilience. With treatment for his scabies and dehydration, his condition began to improve.

Carson arranged for Kratos to be cared for at a rescue center in Bursa, Turkey, managed by Emre Demir, where he could continue to recover under proper supervision. Although Carson hopes to eventually bring Kratos to the United States, she acknowledges the difficulties posed by Turkish regulations.
For now, her primary concern is ensuring Kratos stays healthy and happy. His transformation has been remarkable, with his fur beginning to grow back, symbolizing his recovery. Once on the verge of death, Kratos now represents hope and recovery. His journey highlights the compassion and dedication of Carson, her team, and everyone involved with RWB.
