On a cold, rainy day, a rescuer found herself face-to-face with an urgent situation: a tiny, drenched puppy in dire need of warmth and care. Recognizing the severity of the situation, she gently picked up the shivering puppy and headed to a veterinary clinic.
The rescuer, reflecting on the moment, said, “I’ve never felt a puppy that cold.” At the clinic, while the medical team worked swiftly to stabilize the pup’s temperature, the rescuer reassured her with comforting words, ensuring her she was now safe. The veterinarian made it clear that the puppy’s chances of survival would have drastically diminished if she had been found just a few hours later.

With the little dog now in safe hands, the rescuer couldn’t ignore a lingering worry about other potential puppies. Returning to the original site, she hoped to ensure no others were left behind. Local residents pointed her toward the mother dog, who had only one pup, easing the search. Dedicated to keeping the family intact, the rescuer managed to bring the mother dog to the clinic for a touching reunion, where they instantly recognized each other. The rescuer affectionately named the mother dog Pamela and the puppy Zeina, both of whom thrived under her care until they were ready for adoption.
Meanwhile, Selina, another compassionate rescuer, encountered a wild and wary pregnant dog seeking refuge in an abandoned house. Selina began feeding the dog daily to keep her strong for the birth. When the puppies arrived, she braved the dilapidated structure and followed their cries. Among them was an extraordinarily small and vulnerable puppy, whom she named Fiorella. Selina took Fiorella home to nurture her with bottle feeding and warmth, but devastatingly, the puppy had a severe birth defect and passed away peacefully within 24 hours on Selina’s chest.

Grieving but resolved, Selina pledged to safeguard Fiorella’s siblings. Since the mother dog remained elusive, Selina visited the abandoned house twice daily to provide meals and ensure a clean, healthy environment. She even secured veterinary attention onsite for the growing puppies. As they began to explore, Selina knew the abandoned house was no longer safe. Although unable to capture the feral mother, she safely relocated the puppies to her home, regularly bringing them back for affectionate visits with their mother.
Owing to Selina’s unwavering dedication, the puppies flourished in their nurturing environment. Three have already joined loving families while another anticipates her new home. The remaining three puppies are in foster care, spreading joy as they await their forever families. Selina’s commitment to Fiorella resulted in her siblings leading happy, secure lives—a testament to one rescuer’s promise to a little puppy.
