In a small town called Arbyrd in Missouri, a stray dog recently found itself in a precarious situation due to a classic mix of curiosity and mischief.
The town’s fire department received an urgent call when a homeless dog got stuck in a pipe, creating an emergency situation that required immediate attention.
Arriving at the scene, rescuers from the Kennett Fire Department quickly assessed the challenge they faced. The dog had become trapped at around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, in a section of the Black Gold Potato Field.

Freeing the dog required substantial effort and specialized equipment, and the process was anything but simple.
Fire Chief Paul Spain explained, “We had to be extremely careful about where and how we made cuts, and keeping the animal calm was particularly challenging.” For five long hours, the firefighters worked meticulously to cut the pipe and free the dog.
Once freed, the dog was still stuck with a piece of tubing and was taken to the Kennett Veterinary Clinic. There, the veterinary team anesthetized the dog to safely remove the remaining piece of metal.
Fire Chief Spain expressed relief and delight at the outcome, noting, “The dog started wagging its tail as the pipe was being removed, becoming more alert with each step.
It was a fantastic result for everyone involved. To many of us, the life of a pet is as precious as that of a human, and we were pleased to have been called in.”
Spain added with optimism that the dog is now heading towards a loving home, highlighting the community’s efforts in ensuring a happy ending for the adventurous canine.
