The news was grim—Lunka had been shot in the spine, likely with buckshot. This explained both his physical agony and the sorrow reflected in his eyes. The bullet had caused severe damage, rendering him unable to move or even crawl.
The prognosis was disheartening: full recovery from such a severe spinal injury was unlikely. Yet, we refused to give up on Lunka.
We embarked on an intensive rehabilitation program, collaborating with specialists who provided daily massages and physical therapy exercises.

After 150 arduous days of therapy, an extraordinary thing happened. Lunka began to move on his own—hesitant at first, but eventually he started running and hopping with newfound freedom.
Lunka achieved what seemed impossible. Although his recovery was not complete, it highlighted the strength of love, patience, and sheer determination. From a past filled with suffering, he emerged stronger, happier, and full of life.
He became a symbol of survival, a dog that overcame harrowing adversity thanks to the kindness that spared his life. His story reminds us that even the most broken souls can heal and rediscover joy through compassion and effort.
